Zalando
Done is a strategy.
Most plans fail in execution, not on paper. I run things until they are executed properly: pragmatic, high quality, on time. Consulting taught me how to think a problem through; the line taught me to own the result. Delivering seven-figure top and bottom line impact.
At Zalando I run cross-functional programmes end to end, from business case to rollout: football partnerships with DFB and RBFA, a loyalty programme in four markets, a new return policy in seventeen countries. Before that, consulting across fashion, grocery retail, pharma, automotive and furniture. Psychology in Giessen, Management in Glasgow.
Trained in consulting.
Measured by what ships.
What I bring.
- 01
Ownership, end to end
From business case to rollout to the number on the board. One owner, no handovers.
- Lead of the DFB and RBFA partnerships at Zalando: around 100 people in seven workstreams, budget and rights negotiated with both federations.
- Delivering €XXm in incremental top line through the DFB partnership.
- Chief of Staff to the VP Commercial Pricing & Trading.
- Chaired steering committees at SVP level.
- 02
Fluent across functions
Marketing, retail, loyalty, pricing, returns, legal, product. Deep enough in each to make the trade-offs.
- Loyalty: rollout of Zalando Plus in four markets in ten weeks, 74 stakeholders.
- Returns: return window in 17 countries cut from 100 to 30 days, ten-plus departments involved.
- Product: relaunch of the Lidl Plus app with a team of 15.
- 03
Proven across industries
Fashion e-commerce, grocery retail, pharma, automotive, furniture.
- Market-entry strategy for a digital product of a global pharmaceutical company.
- Restructured the customer service of an international retailer, saving €1m per year.
- Business unit strategy for a furniture group; direct-to-consumer e-mobility strategy for a car manufacturer.
- 04
Pragmatism under pressure
Tight timelines, many departments, senior audiences.
- Process redesign with a 30% efficiency gain, designed and implemented.
- Business cases for growth opportunities, presented and decided at SVP level.
- Brought store operations and e-commerce together at Lidl International.
- 05
Leading cross-functional teams
Marketing, retail, legal, product, two federations: the teams I lead rarely share a reporting line. Alignment comes from listening, clarity and follow-through.
- Around 100 people, seven workstreams, two federations, one programme.
- 74 stakeholders in four markets behind one rollout in ten weeks.
- A degree in Psychology helps: people move when they understand why.
The path so far.
